How to Know Virgin Hair Weave is in High Quality?

Fake hair extensions have become a common site these days for a bunch of reasons. Some customers want them because they are a lot cheaper, some vendors are just happy to load them off to unsuspecting consumers because they can, and the show goes on. Now, you wouldn’t want to pay the actual cost price for genuine virgin hair and get fake in return, would you? So, we put together some key points as a guide when you hit the stores for virgin hair weave.

1.Check for leftover chemicals

To check if chemicals have been applied to your hair, wet the hair bundle, apply a little amount of neutralizing shampoo and massage into the hair. If the foam comes out in a pinkish hue, then chemicals have been applied. You should know that if the vendor has taken time to thoroughly wash out these chemicals, this test may prove futile. You can try the sniff test and if you pick up any chemical odors like a relaxer or perm, then the hair has been chemically processed.

2.Check for the presence of hair cuticles

Hair that has not been chemically processed must have the cuticles present on it. If cuticles have been stripped, it is totally bad hair. Although, it might do the job and last up to 9 months, you shouldn’t buy ingenuine virgin hair weaves with the mindset of real ones. To test for cuticles, run your fingers up and down the hair shaft. The hair should feel smooth going downwards. However, you should feel some resistance as you move your fingers in the opposite direction. This resistance signifies the presence of cuticle.

3. Perform a smoke test

Set a little fire to the tips of the hair. If the hair burns with a white smoke and turns to ash, this is indicative that it is 100% virgin hair. But if it burns with a black smoke and hardens when it cools, the hair is “very” synthetic. Take note, you can’t just go burning hairs in stores, you’ll most probably get kicked out, or arrested.

4.Non-uniformity

Human hair is naturally unequal and is void of a uniform pattern. Therefore, any “virgin hair” with the same two features is not authentic. Virgin hair is natural, unprocessed hair that grows out of an individual’s scalp. Most people do not have a perfect wave from root to tip and normally have irregular curls, waves or ringlets on their head. Sometimes, even the texture can differ within the same bundle as a person can have her mother’s texture on the front of her head and her father’s texture at the back. So, be on the lookout for some irregularity in textured hair (wavy or curly) the next time you receive a bundle to be certain it’s virgin.

5.The color of virgin hair
Such as peruvian hair bundles come in natural colors ranging from shades of brown to black. There are certain colors that are characteristic to regions. For example, finding a jet black Brazilian virgin hair is near impossible, you would most likely get brown. Jet black virgin hair is however common to certain parts of Asia like China and Korea. Since each bundle comes from a different person, expect a slight variation in the colors of each bundle even if the vendor matches them as closely as possible.

6.Get a sample if possible:
Why? This is because most virgin hair vendors do not accept returns on purchased hair. Hence, it is better to lose a little than a while lot of money because virgin purchase can run upwards of $500 for a full head of hair. Before going on a spree you might regret, make sure you order a sample size, usually goes for $5-$100 and run all possible tests. If any vendor tells you that they don’t offer sample sizes, the authenticity of their hair should be questioned.
